Welcome to the Food Entrepreneur Community

I'm Stephen Hall, author of "Sell Your Specialty Food" (the renamed 5th edition of "From Kitchen to Market" - and called "the go-to book for any start-up food company " by Oprah's Magazine. I created this community for specialty food entrepreneurs.

More than 12,000 new food products are introduced each year, of which 3,000 or so might be characterized as specialty foods. Do you have a specialty food product that you would like to take to market, or are you a supplier to the specialty food industry? If so, I invite you to join our community. Create a page and tell us about your business. (This will help you get more exposure). Join in the blogs, ask questions, and connect with other food entrepreneurs.

Whether you are consulting or p… Continue

We have a controlled circulation and are not trying to drum up new subscribers. Does that make sense?"

This was in response to an inquiry I made about the possibility of either sponsoring an edition of our online magazine, and/or writing an article about the growing trends in pr… Continue

MANAGEMENT STYLE - SCARCITY VS ABUNDANCE

This is from the July issue of Wired Magazine:

ELEMENT - SCARCITY ABUNDANCE
Rules: Everything is forbidden. Everything is permitted,
unless it is permitted. Unless it is forbidden.

Social Model - Paternalism Egalitarianism
("We know what's best") ("You know what's best.")

Profit Plan - Business model=We'll figure it out

Decision Process - Top-down, Bottom-up

Organizational Command & control - Out of control

I am on the side of abundance, yet I think the organizational structure is stra… Continue
