THE "GO TO" PLACE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN SPECIALTY FOOD MARKETING.

Word has it that Wholefoods has only one preferred distributor.

Is the only way to get your product to Wholefoods through its one distributor?

Do any of you know differently?

Thank you.

Whole Foods has many distributors and even accepts deliveries directly from the manufacturer.
What you need to do is to check out their website and make sure that your product meets their specifications. They are very strict about the ingredients they will allow you to use in manufacturing your product.
Go to one of their stores and check the aisles, see if they have anything close to what you want to sell to them.
Then call and ask for a meeting with one of their buyers. Be prepared to bring in samples, your brochure and a list of ingredients. Also discuss how often you can produce/deliver etc.
In the beginning you will probably be in only one store but if your product flies they they will work with you and distributors to get your product in all of their stores.
They are always looking for new products. But as I mentioned before they are very strict about the ingredients.
Don't be discouraged if one store says no. Try another Whole Foods store. Each manager has a great deal of autonomy.
