THE "GO TO" PLACE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN SPECIALTY FOOD MARKETING.

Hi,
The following is from a reader: I am in need of info on marketing and manufacturing my specialty food. It is an eggroll. I use a manufactured eggroll wrapper for the eggroll. So I do not need to label the other company's wrapper on my label? I can use any ingredient that is manufactured by another company and still sell my eggroll as long as I don't steal and copy the wrapper?

Comments?

Thank you.

Hi Steve:

You do not have to list the name of the company that makes the wrapper but you do have to include all of the nutrition and ingredient information. Actually, if you did list the name of the company that makes the wrapper you would have to get their permission first. Hope this helps.

Paul,

Thanks for answering my question. Very helpful.

No, you do not have to name the manufacturer.

Important also:

1. Let the manufacturer know you want to be on their Alert List for any recall/contamination information.
Do this in a certified mail letter/in writing. (They can just send you a company newsletter--like Costco did with contaminated almonds-- it does not have to be personal.)

2. Reference for food laws: Federal Register Electronic Code of Federal Regulations
