THE "GO TO" PLACE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN SPECIALTY FOOD MARKETING.

Hi,

I make chip dip mixes (dry herbs and spices) and dessert mixes (sugar and flavoring powders). I can't find a co-packer that has low minimums. About 300 lbs is average for my search. It wouldn't be so bad, bad my average mix package is only .55 of one ounce. That's a lot of packages from 300 pounds, and I have 18 different flavors. Does anyone know of a co-packer that can do smaller minimum runs into a small 4 X 4 inch bag, zip lock or sealed?

I also sell microwave pork rinds in a 10 ounce tub. (Ten servings per tub) It's the size of a 16 ounce cottage cheese container. I need a co-packer for this product also. I'm told it needs to be a USDA licensed packer since it's made of pork skin (animal product). Since this is a 10 ounce container, the minimum pounds isn't as critical as the dip mixes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I can't find out how to edit these posts once they go up online. How do you edit the post? Thank you.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your post.

I do the editing, alas. I don't think one can edit the entry once the submit "button" is clicked.

Not to worry though, your message is clear.

May I resectfully suggest that you review your strategic plan? Ask yourself, and your team,, the question: "For whom should Cherry Orchard Foods be doing what?"

That should help you identify and prioritize your primary customers and their needs (also prioritized). The idea is to consider refining your profuct line.

Once that strategic planning process is complted, you can continue with a more focused co-packer search.

I will revert to the co-packer issue. In the meantime, you may want to check with Ryan Montague's Gourmet Business Solutions website as he has a number of co-packer listings. You can also get a list from the NASFT - via Heatheer Paul - HPaul@nasft.org.

Does this help?

Thank you. The only reason I wanted to edit the message is that I forgot to mention that they are one color labels. I did later see a place where you could edit it as I was stumbling around. I couldn't begin to tell you where it was though. It does say you have 15 minutes to edit your message and by the time I found out whre, it was too late.

I know there are several places with co-packer listings. I'm just so weary of contacting so many and finding out they can't do small runs. I was hoping someone knew of someone specifically who could do it. Thank you, though.

Jim

Try Richmoor in California.
They co-pack dry packets for small volume backpack/hiking specialty food lines.
