THE "GO TO" PLACE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN SPECIALTY FOOD MARKETING.

Hi,
Generally, what do co packers charge? I have seen other information available on the web and have seen figures in the hundreds of thousands. I have an ethnic based seasoning that I would need produced; I am located in Georgia and I have found none in my area so far.
Thanks for your help.

The charges you'll incur with a co-packer vary greatly depending on several factors such as type of product and ingredients, quality of said ingredients, production run volumes, and test runs/analysis/product development. Some may charge in the hundreds-of-thousands, but in my experiences, that is very uncommon. I have a few clients who have co-packers that will let them do production runs of as little as only 10-20 cases. Given that their product COGS is only about $2, you can do the math and see that they can do a production run for as low as $240. This won't always be the case, but it's not impossible.

I have talked to other co-packers that set a minimum of, say, 1,000 ounces/pounds/gallons of product. The best thing to do is contact 2-3 potential co-packers and find out what their minimums are or if they have any up-front consulting/analysis fees.

As I am typing this, I just realized I have a client in Georgia that makes a (non-ethnic) seasoning. I am not sure if they also co-pack, but they likely will have a connection I can look into. Contact me directly and I can try to help.
