Food Entrepreneurs

THE "GO TO" PLACE FOR ANYONE INTERESTED IN SPECIALTY FOOD MARKETING.

In case you’re hiding under a rock–the new movie Julie and Julia has revived America’s love affair with Julia Child.

Her book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, is flying off the bookshelves.

Not just at bookstores either.

I pulled out my old copy–and wondered which elaborate recipe I might have energy for.

Hmmm…maybe the roasted chicken with mushroom stuffing…

Are you wondering where I’m going with this?

It’s this–

Do you have a relevant food item that can be associated with Julia Child?

Almost any high quality gourmet food does–because the woman loved to eat.

So the next question is…

Are you doing anything this week–or over the next 2 weeks–to capitalize on the Julia craze?

Have you put together, for example, a “celebration of Julia” package to offer to your mailing list?

My point is this: People buy for emotional reasons almost always.

A surefire way to gain more sales is to tap into their in-the-moment desires.

So…here’s my second point–instead of waiting for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or 4th of July–why not create your own occasions?

For example:

Winner of our fastest cooking pasta contest.

Hooray for Summer Camp! (Picnic Basket for 2)

If Julie & Julia had tea together…

As long as it’s relevant to your audience–the possibilities are endless.

Here’s another benefit to creating these kinds of offers–

It’s fun. It gets you revved up and thinking about your products, your market, and your positioning in a whole new way.

As Julia loved to say in her sing song voice: Bon Appetit!
